Durin is a new 5-star character that was released during the first half of the Genshin Impact Luna III update. He is a Pyro off-field DPS unit who can be used in various team compositions. He is one of the best Pyro sub-DPS units, who also provides other valuable buffs to the whole team, and will likely be relevant in the game’s meta for a long time.
On that note, let’s take a look at Durin’s pros and cons in Genshin Impact to decide if you should pull for him or not.
Should you pull for Durin in Genshin Impact?
Durin’s pull value is excellent, as he is one of the best Pyro sub-DPS units in the entire game. Furthermore, he also has two unique forms in his Elemental Burst that allow him to be either an off-field or on-field DPS unit. His Passive Talent buffs the damage for both of his forms and provides valuable buffs to other team members as well.
For the Dragon of White Form, he provides RES shred for Pyro, and the RES shred for the Element that triggers Pyro Swirl, Pyro Crystallize, Burning, or Overloaded Elemental Reactions. In the Dragon of Dark Decay form, he increases his own Vaporize and Melt DMG.

However, like other characters in the title, he has some pros and cons, and his value will depend on some characters that you own:
Pros
- A versatile Pyro-sub DPS unit that can fit into any team composition.
- He can be used as both an on-field and an off-field DPS unit.
- Shreds the opponents’ Pyro RES and other elements in his Dragon of White Form, which means that he can be used in many team comps.
- Has excellent off-field Pyro application and damage.
- Easy to build, as he mostly requires ATK and Crit stats for a majority of his team comps, and he also has good F2P weapon options.
- Does not need high ER stats as his Elemental Skill regenerates up to 33 Energy at level 10.
- Has great early cons, such as C1 and C2, that significantly increase his support capabilities and pull value.
Cons
- He needs a second Hexerei character to unlock the full effects of his Passive Talents.
- He does not have a best-in-slot artifact set in the Luna III version.
- Durin does not provide RES Shred for the Hydro and Cryo Elements, and if you want to use him as Vaporize or Melt support, you might need to get his C2.
- In Hexerei teams, his signature weapon is better than his F2P weapon options by a considerable margin.
Durin is definitely worth pulling in Genshin Impact. He has high DPS, provides valuable buffs, and is a versatile character that fits into many team comps. If you are looking for a strong and versatile Pyro character, then you should pull for him during the Genshin Impact Luna III version.
Furthermore, Durin’s pull value is expected to rise if he gets a best-in-slot artifact set and with newer Hexerei characters. Alice and Nicole have already made their appearance in-game, and Durin’s value in the game’s meta would likely increase if both characters are added to the Hexerei group.
