Ben Johnson’s Chicago Bears suffered a 42-38 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17 on Sunday. The Bears had a chance to win the contest on the final play of the game, but Caleb Williams’ intended pass for Jahdae Walker hit the ground just in front of the receiver. While it was a dramatic end to the game, Bears wideout DJ Moore was open on the final play, and was even spotted calling for a pass, but Williams failed to find his WR.
After the game, Johnson took responsibility for the Bears’ final play against San Francisco.
Thanks for the submission!
“We didn’t quite get aligned in the formation we wanted to,” Johnson said. “It’s on me. I didn’t give (Caleb Williams) the call fast enough, and so he’s trying to piecemeal it together. I gotta do a better job on that.”

Johnson also said he was proud of his team for improving in the second half after being down 28-21 at halftime.
“In the second half, I did feel we picked up our game as a team and we closed that gap and we made it where we could potentially win that thing there at the end,” Johnson said. “So, was proud of the guys for that. But it just wasn’t enough.”
Johnson has done a fine job with the Bears in his first year. He has led the team to the NFC North title, but Chicago can no longer get the No. 1 seed in the conference after its loss to the 49ers.
