Tom Brady reveals receiving offer to unretire for second time after Super Bowl run with Buccaneers

Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL for the second time in February 2023. However, the legendary former quarterback recently revealed that he received an offer from a team to unretire again after his final season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In a video shared by “NFL on Fox” on Wednesday, Brady confirmed that an NFL team approached him, but he didn’t specify which franchise asked him to come out of retirement.

“Yes, when I retired the second time, there was a team that reached out,” Brady said. “But I’m not gonna tell you who. I’m gonna leave you guys guessing on that. But it was actually a little bit intriguing. But at that time, I was pretty certain that I was done-done.”

Brady played in the NFL for 23 seasons, winning seven Super Bowls. He spent 20 years with the New England Patriots, where he won six Super Bowls.

In 2020, Brady signed with the Buccaneers and won the Super Bowl in his first year with the team.

Brady retired for the first time in February 2022. However, he made a U-turn on the decision a month later to return to the league for one more season with the Buccaneers.

Nonetheless, Brady had no intention of ever returning to the league after his second retirement.

Last week, analyst Colin Cowherd asked Tom Brady whether he could still play in the NFL at 48, following Philip Rivers’ sensational return to the Indianapolis Colts. The former Patriots QB was still certain that he could lead a team to a few TD drives, but said he couldn’t play in the league due to his investment in the Las Vegas Raiders.

“Yes, I certainly could,” Brady said via Fox Sports. “I think the answer for me would be yes. I’m not allowed to anymore because I’m a minority owner of the Raiders, so I can’t unretire.”

Brady became a minority owner of the Raiders in October 2024. He is also in his second year as a Fox analyst.
