Why GTA 6 should bring back property management from Vice City Stories

Similar to GTA 5, GTA 6 is also expected to have several properties that players should be able to purchase and earn money from. The game returns to Vice City, which has plenty of bars, clubs, and hotels that could be acquired by Jason or Lucia.

However, when it comes to property management details, an argument can be made that GTA 6 should have mechanics similar to Vice City Stories’ Empire Buildings. Here’s why.

In GTA Vice City Stories, Vic gets to purchase different properties and run various kinds of illegal businesses from them. None of the buildings is connected to a specific business. The player gets to choose the type of business they want to run in it.

The property acquisitions start by heading to a property and removing enemy gang members from it. During this mission, players need to destroy any remaining paperwork, furniture, and more inside the building. Next, they can choose which business to run in the building and repair it accordingly. After this is done, a series of missions regarding that business will unlock. Players can do these missions to earn and also get passive income from them.

There are a total of 30 properties that can be purchased, which is necessary if players are aiming to complete 100% of the game. Additionally, players’ vehicles standing outside their properties also get a free upgrade and become bulletproof.

These property features in GTA Vice City Stories made the game a lot more immersive. Players can feel that they are living the life of a gangster and gradually acquiring more and more properties and businesses. Hence, this property management mechanics and missions should arrive in the base GTA 6 title as well.

A step up from boring GTA Online’s property management system

GTA Online’s property management is a lot different and less detailed than GTA Vice City Stories. In GTA Online, players can only purchase pre-built properties with money and do not have much control over their development. Furthermore, the types of missions these properties offer can feel repetitive after a while.

Hence, the property management system from Vice City Stories should return to GTA 6 so that it can feel like a step up from GTA Online’s business structure.
