Rebecca Donaldson and Carlos Sainz share a moment as the Spaniard qualifies in the top 3 for the F1 Las Vegas GP

Carlos Sainz continued his streak of qualifying inside the top three at the Las Vegas GP and subsequently had an adorable moment with his girlfriend, Rebecca Donaldson. The couple was seen kissing after the Williams driver secured an elated result in Sin City.

Sainz arrived at the Las Vegas GP weekend after a dodgy past three race weekends. Despite this, the Williams duo had expressed optimism about the upcoming weekend as the FW47 had shown some strong pace in it.

The pair fine-tuned their setup for qualifying and decided to take on the wet track. Though Alex Albon crashed his car in Q1, the Spaniard remained on track and posted stellar laptimes until the end of Q3, which helped him claim a top-three qualifying result.

Happy with the result, Sainz and his girlfriend kissed when they met in the pit lane:

Carlos Sainz helped Williams get their first top-three qualifying result in Las Vegas since the track’s introduction to the F1 calendar in 2023.

Carlos Sainz was a driver to be reckoned with during the qualifying for the Las Vegas GP. Despite Lando Norris and Max Verstappen deposing him from the top of the leaderboard, his performance was still a strong one in comparison to the rivals he was going against.

Subsequently, when asked by former IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe in the post-qualifying interview to reflect on his qualifying session, he said on the F1TV broadcast:

“I’m always optimistic… this track suited our car in the dry and in the wet, in FP3, we didn’t look very promising, but we did a few changes to the car that I think [can] help in the wet, and that allowed me to — from the first lap in Q1, everytime I was finishing the lap, I was P1, P1, P1… On the inters I knew the others would catch up a bit. But, yeah happy with P3.”

Hinchcliffe then asked about the massive support he gets from the US fans, to which he replied:

“A bit like in Austin, a massive cheer from the US fans for me every time. I don’t know how to thank them because every time I come to US, I feel a massive support from everyone, so thanks a lot truly. I think the US fans like a bit of an underdog, no?”

On the other hand, Sainz suffered a massive scare as stewards had summoned him for allegedly dangerously rejoining the track during Q1 when Lance Stroll was approaching turn 5.

But the stewards decided to take no further action on the matter, implying that he would start the race from the third grid slot in Las Vegas.
