Davis Schneider’s dad teases Yankees fans after Trent Grisham’s $22M career decision

In 2025, Davis Schneider and the Toronto Blue Jays appeared to have the New York Yankees’ number all season long. Winning the season series 8-5, the Jays beat the Yankees to top spot in the AL East, before getting the better of them once again in the ALDS.

As a result, there has been plenty of animosity between the two fanbases of recent. Davis Schneider’s dad, Steve, also got in on the action on Tuesday, taking to X to tease Yankees fans after outfielder Trent Grisham chose to extend his stay in the Bronx, accepting the one-year, $22 million qualifying offer the Bronx Bombers had extended to him.

“Who has it worse than Yankees fans?” Steve Schneider posted

Who has it worse than @Yankees fans?

Though Grisham had a solid regular season, finishing with a .235 batting average, 34 home runs and 74 RBIs, he struggled mightily in October. In the 7 playoff games he featured in this past season, Trent Grisham managed a mere .138 batting average and only four hits, none of which were home runs or RBIs.

With star outfielders such as Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger available on the free agent market, the Yankees’ decision to stick with Grisham, that too for a rather exorbitant amount, has left many fans scratching their heads and criticizing GM Brian Cashman and the front office.

Davis Schneider and the Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to continue on their upward trajectory in 2026

Having finished rock bottom of the AL East in 2024, all fans hoped for in 2025 was for the Blue Jays to avoid the same fate. However, what the team went on to accomplish probably surpassed the expectations of even the most optimistic of supporters.

Finishing with a 94-68 record, Toronto won the AL East for the first time since 2015, before carrying their momentum into the playoffs. Beating the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners in the ALDS and ALCS respectively, the Blue Jays managed to clinch the pennant for the first time since 1993.

Unfortunately for Davis Schneider and company, things fell apart right at the very last in the World Series, as the LA Dodgers staged a late comeback to pour cold water over the Blue Jays’ championship dreams.

After enjoying some well-deserved rest and taking some time to put the disappointment behind them, Davis Schneider and the Blue Jays will be looking to fight tooth and nail in an effort to go one better once the 2026 season comes around.
