Toronto Blue Jays slugger Davis Schneider has a big support system in the form of his father, Steve, and his older sisters, Madeline and Olivia. Schneider’s father doesn’t mince words on social media, where he regularly speaks his mind about matters related to baseball.
On Wednesday, Steve shared his thoughts about why Shane Bieber exercised his $16 million player option (per Sportrac) for the 2026 season. Bieber’s decision surprised many fans and analysts, as many believe the 2020 AL Cy Young winner would’ve bagged a huge free agency contract.
MLB insider Ken Rosenthal disclosed on “Foul Territory” that many executives couldn’t fathom why Bieber made the decision. An X user, Sid Seixeiro, shared the clip of Rosenthal.

Schneider’s father reshared the post and defended Bieber’s decision, and in the process, threw shade at Juan Soto.
““He was happy in Toronto… like ALL the [BlueJays] families. Which is a big thing”… but “executives” still can’t figure out why he didn’t take more money,” Davis Schneider’s dad wrote.
“Last season we ENDURED a guy who got 3/4 billion💵 and still wanted a suite for his family and a clothing allowance for his mom? Get it through you skulls: Toronto is a great place to play!” he added.
Even though Steve didn’t mention Juan Soto by name, no other player signed a quarter-billion contract last season. The Blue Jays were among the teams in contention to sign Soto, along with the Red Sox and Yankees, before he ultimately chose the Mets.

MLB insider Chris Rose and former Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe recently discussed J.T. Realmuto‘s free agent market on “Talkin’ Baseball”. On Wednesday, the program’s X handle shared a clip about the discussion and asked fans whether Realmuto could sign with the Pirates.
Davis Schneider’s dad reshared the post on X and took a subtle dig at Randy Miller, a Yankees beat writer.
“He’s told an unnamed teammate he wants to be a [Pirates]…,” Steve wrote.
Miller, who works for NJ Advanced Media, had claimed that Paul Skenes wants to play for the Yankees, citing an anonymous Pirates player as the source. The news went viral in baseball circles, and Skenes was asked about it after his 2025 NL Cy Young win.
The Pirates ace debunked the claim and shared his desire to win for his current team. Despite Skenes’ strong words, many analysts and fans believe that he will leave the Pirates in free agency or by trade in the coming years.
