The Kansas City Chiefs dynasty isn’t dead yet.
No one should be panicking just because they’re 0-2, especially since those losses came against the Chargers and Eagles—two legitimate contenders. But if they lose on Sunday night to the woeful Giants? Then, it’s probably safe to say it’s over.
It’s hard to imagine, though, that this game is anything but a chance for the Chiefs to save their season and right their ship after two very difficult, but narrow losses. The Giants (0-2) are a floundering franchise who are simply not in the reigning AFC champions’ class. Then again, just one week ago, the Giants’ offense exploded for 506 yards, including 450 passing yards from quarterback Russell Wilson.
In New York, they seemed to believe that their offensive revival was the start of something big. Again, that’s hard to imagine. The Chiefs defense, still coached by one of the best in Steve Spagnuolo, is no joke and far better than the Dallas defense that was exploited by the Giants.
As for the Chiefs’ offense … well, Patrick Mahomes is still Patrick Mahomes. So, this really should be the perfect scenario for the Chiefs to fix what ails them.
However, given their 0-2 record, there are probably a few frayed nerves in Kansas City. And if the Giants (0-2) somehow pull off the upset for their first win? Well, that would change everything about the balance of power, at least in the AFC.
